1971 MUSTANG BOSS 351 for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this 1971 Boss 351 Mustang Survivor which is from the Kirt Fryer collection with only 18,300 original miles. The car was restored by noted Mustang restoration expert Bob Wilson of RJR Restorations in Farmington,Minnesota. This 1971 BOSS 351 was one of four Ford Engineering Test Cars and that were not sold to the general public. The Marti Report shows Ford Motor Company as the original owner. It sports the original DOAE-L block and original top loader transmission and shifter. Just two of the four test cars are still known to exist and this car has the Ford Brass Tag to validate its history. Comes with build sheet. This particular test car is also a 1 of 1 vehicle based on the options car documented on the Marti report.

This is an all original panel car that was repainted in its Wimbleton White color 18 years ago. In the 2016 restoration It was decided not to repaint the car in order to preserve the patina that the car already shows. All flat black paint was resprayed including underspray and all stripe kits were replaced. At RJR Restorations the engine was fully inspected and it was determined that the 18,300 mile odometer reading was correct and original
based on visual wear. The rear end was inspected, lashed and all axle seals and races were  restored The engine has its properly stamped DOAE-L block. Compression test was excellent.

This Boss 351 Mustang has its original Autolite 4300D carburetor, hoses, radiator, distributor alternator, intake manifold and inner fenders. The car has new tires, exhaust system, suspension, gas tank, battery tray, rear quarter drains, carpet, door panels, sound deadening material, fuel lines, timing chain, water pump, rebuilt master cylinder, package tray, ram air plenum and original radio (installed but not conected).

The other validated numbers matching drivetrain components include a Ford/Hurst competition shifter linkage with functional factory reverse lockout, code dated transmission and 9 posi rear end differential.

A later Car & Driver comment on their February 1971 road test disclosed that Ford had specially prepared its test car, a common tactic of the time. Its unlikely that any screws which could conceivably make it go faster were left unturned, so they said.
