Price: $79,900
Exterior Color: St. James Red, Interior Color: Tan
1987 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this exquisite 1987 Bentley Continental Convertible featured in very rare St. James Red with Tan leather interior and matching Tan convertible top and boot cover. The body is highlighted by fine tan pinstriping. The Tan convertible top and Tan boot are as-new.

The Bentley Continental Convertible is very rare compared to the corresponding Rolls Corniche Convertible, and it is considered more desirable because of its understated front end styling and Bentleys sporting heritage. Between 1985 and 1989 a total of only 195 Continental Convertibles were sold worldwide, of which a small percentage came to the United States. Historic data and value guides show that the Continental brings a substantial premium over its Rolls Corniche cousin.

Our car has been cherished and dealer-maintained since new, and has covered only 19,604 miles. Our car also has the desirable Cocktail Set option built into both front doors, and all the pieces of the set are still present. For 1988 the Bentley Continental received the same upgrades that led Rolls-Royce to change the designation of their car to Corniche II. Upgrades include rack and pinion steering, alloy wheels, and bi-level air-conditioning. The car is powered by Rolls renowned 6.75 Liter V-8 with Bosch fuel injection and features a four speed automatic transmission.

With their Mulliner Park Ward coachwork, and bespoke quality, the best examples of these fine convertibles will be treasured by collectors for decades to come. This may be the best example of a very rare car in arguably the best color combination. Your inspection is invited.

1935 Cadillac 355-D ALL-WEATHER PHAETON Stock # 1111, Mileage: 78429, VIN # 48
Price: $169,900
Exterior Color: Red, Interior Color: Tan
1935 CADILLAC 355-D ALL-WEATHER PHAETON for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this sensational 1935 Cadillac 355-D All-Weather Phaeton featured in Bright Red with Tan leather interior and matching Tan canvas convertible top. This body style was known as the Series 20, V-8 convertible sedan for 5 passengers, style #35-671, and it carried a list price of $2,955.00. This particular car has a very interesting story behind it.

For 1934, Cadillac styling introduced more streamlined designs. Their coachwork featured smooth, round front fenders. Relocating things like the horns and radiator cap under the hood gave the new Cadillac a significantly sleeker appearance. New, independent suspension in the front and a rear stabilizer bar made for a significantly smoother ride as well, and the 315 cubic inch V-8 saw an increase in power. A resounding success, the car remained mostly the same the following year.

This example is quite possibly the quintessential 1935 Cadillac. Featured in numerous Cadillac publications it was ordered in April of 1935 from Capitol Cadillac for Shriners 62 Annual conclave in Washington D.C. as evidenced by the delivery note on the build sheet and photographs of the event. The original color was Dania Cream with Tan top and interior, and Brilliant Green wheels with optional painted metal wheel covers. A copy of the original build sheet and a period black and white photo showing the car as it was delivered and used as the Shriners Parade Car for the 1935 Conclave and throughout the 1930s are included in our photo presentation.

Wonderfully finished and equipped, the car currently wears bright red paint over a tan leather interior and rides on beige wheels with red wheel discs and whitewall tires. Dual enclosed side-mount spare tires are mounted with a mirror each, while Super 8 spotlights can be found up front and a folding luggage rack in back. The front and rear doors are joined in the center of the car by huge fabulous chrome hinges and the unique rear fender skirts incorporate a faux chrome hubcap into their design. The interior is lavishly equipped with a heater, radio, restored gauges, sun visors, banjo steering wheel, cigarette lighter mounted in the back of the front seats and a robe rail.

This significant Cadillac was restored to the highest standards by Blair Hilborn, who owned Hilborn Restorations of Bishop, CA, as his personal car. Tragically, Hilborn and several friends were killed in a small plane crash en route to the Hershey Meet about three months after the Cadillac restoration was completed.

This Cadillacs presentation remains absolutely stunning. The paint chrome interior and details are all exquisite. A CCCA Full Classic, it would be more than at home on a competitive concours field or tour.

1948 Chrysler Windsor Stock # 1074, Mileage: 22796, VIN # 70641979
Price: $44,900
Exterior Color: Stone Beige, Interior Color: Plaid
1948 CHRYSLER WINDSOR HIGHLANDER CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this incredibly preserved 1948 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible which comes with a fascinating history. Our unrestored 1948 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible was purchased in 1948 from Northwest Motors in Helena, Montana as a high school graduation gift for Bob Starz by his father. In 1950 Mr. Starz caught his son drinking and driving, so he took the car away from his son and placed it in a stone garage. Mr. Starz made sure that Bob could not get the car out of the garage by cementing an iron railing around the car. Thus, with only 16,300 miles on it, the Chrysler was interred this way more than 30 years, until after Mr. Starz senior passed away. An old high school friend asked Bob about purchasing the car, but the car held a lot of bad memories, and Bob told his friend that he was going to take the to the city dump and burn it! Fortunately, Bob was talked out of that idea, and after 6 more years, the friend convinced Bob to sell him the car. When it was finally released from its long confinement the car still had only 16,300 miles. Subsequently the car was sold again in 1999, at which time it had 20,600 miles. In the year 2002 this car won the Presidents Cup at the Walter P. Chrysler National Meet. The car remains unrestored. The convertible top is factory original. The power top mechanism works properly, but it is rarely put it down because of the material is 68 years old. Almost everything else is 100% original as it came out of the Chrysler factory in 1948; original paint, original plaid upholstery. The car currently shows 22,796 miles. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed because, while the car was in storage, people would put their feet on them. Both front and rear gravel pans have been painted because of scratches. The passenger door is a little off-color because, when the car was delivered to the dealership, the door was scratched during the unloading process and repainted at the dealership.

The Windsor is powered by Chryslers Spitfire 251 CI L-Head inline six cylinder engine and this car has the Fluid-Drive hydraulically operated transmission. Everything works properly and the car likely drives as well now as when Bob Starz was caught by his father! It was comprehensively serviced in 2013 and would be an ideal candidate for preservation class showing. Pre-war designs that survived WW II like the 1948 Windsor Highlander Convertible feature an impressive mix of classic styling and the improved reliability and driving manners found in post-war cars. They remain strong in the market, and are considered to be a blue-chip post-war collectible. The convertibles lovely Highlander plaid interior is a bold feature of the luxurious cabin, and the fantastic dash features a vintage Motorola radio between the factory gauges and an era-correct clock. The emblems, stainless trim, and carpets are set off by a chrome-trimmed, 3-spoke steering wheel with old school Lucite shift and stalk knobs. Top up or down, this car is ready to tour or show.

Price: $49,900
Exterior Color: Blue/White, Interior Color: Dark Red
1972 DATSUN 240Z PACE CAR for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this 1972 Datsun 240Z Pace Car. In 1972 Datsun specially prepared two 1972 240Z cars to be used as the Official Pace Car(s) for the Third Annual "California 500" held on Sept. 3, 1972. It was standard practice to build two " Official Pace Cars " for an event. One would be used for promotional purposes. It would be driven around town, used for photo sessions and then presented to the winner of the race. A second car would be prepared to actually "Pace" the race. This second car usually would have it's suspension and power-train modified for higher performance, to assure that it could perform the on-track functions of a Pace Car. (that is to keep ahead of the pack of cars it was pacing ). Having thus been modified, it could no longer be Smog Certified for use on the highways. Thus the need of having one for "Show" and one for "GO". Fifty 240Z Official Pace Cars were built and delivered to Southern California Datsun Dealers Official Pace Cars during the ceremonies officially opening the " California 500 " at Ontario Motor Speedway. The foregoing information is credited to the enthusiasts and historians at the web site, who have researched the history of these Pace Cars and who say that only one of the 50 duplicate O.M.S. Pace Cars has been found, and the sole survivor is the car we have to offer you.

This 1972 Official OMS Pace Car Duplicate is at present the only known survivor. One of Fifty originally produced by Nissan Motors to commemorate the DATSUN 240Z being selected by the Ontario Motor Speedway to Pace the 1972 "U.S.A.C. California 500 Championship". This car was originally purchased from Gillian Datsun in Inglewood, CA. It was driven until the early 80's with its original O.M.S. livery. The original owner tired of the graphics and painted it with a Jaguar Burgundy then drove it until the mid 80's when it was stored away. The car was pulled out of storage and sold to a friend of the owner in 2007, who began its restoration. Photos show layers of paint being peeled away revealing the original O.M.S. Blue and White colors from 1972. The car in our showroom is this car complete with the 500RACE California license plates and frames. The car is nearly complete with the exception of a few bits of trim, and we would characterize it as being in #3 condition. It is rust-free and mechanically sound. Serious offers are invited. As reference materials, we can offer two links to the documentation. Below each link is the full URL which can be copied and pasted into your browser as not all of our advertising venues support live links.

1978 DATSUN 280Z BLACK PEARL LIMITED EDITION for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this very rare and collectible 1978 Datsun 280Z. To honor the tenth anniversary of the Z-Car series, and to determine if the color black should be added to the Z-car model line colors, Datsun made a limited run called the Black Pearl Edition. Like the car we feature, some of these Black Pearl Editions came with a Sports Appearance Package that included the following options: Black Pearl Metallic Paint Paint Code 638, Red & Silver Accent Stripes On:Body-side, Hood, Hatch, Headlight Scoops, Rear Window Sunshade, Dual Racing Mirrors.

It is reported that at least one Black Pearl Edition with the "Sports Appearance Package" was sent to each Authorized Datsun Dealer in 1978, with the larger volume Dealers receiving more than one. Thus at least 850 Black Pearl Editions with the SAP were produced and most likely something closer to 1,200 or 1,500 of them. The cars were so successful that in 1979 with the introduction of the 280ZX Datsun featured their all Black 280ZX's in their "Black Gold" advertising campaign. Our car is stunningly correct right down to the proper factory wheels. Our car has only 12,744 miles and has a fresh show-quality repaint. It includes the optional AC and automatic transmission. It is a delight to drive.

This particular example is a spectacular one - original owner fully documented car that has had a belt service including a comprehensive 30k mile service completed at just 200 miles ago on 6/2013. The 328 is a very considerable improvement over its predecessor the 308 and has developed a honest reputation for a very entertaining Ferrari to own with very low upkeep costs as compared to any other Modena product from this vintage. This is a extremely rare example of the legendary model which has gained tremendous popularity with the Ferrari community as of late and their values have picked up significant momentum. In addition to all the above what sets this particular car apart from any other 328 is that the forward cowl of the car and the owners manual were autographed by Phil Hill. Mr. Hill is the only American born driver to win a Formula 1 Championship (1961) and additionally he has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times (1958, 1961 and 1962). 1963 FORD GALAXIE 427 LIGHTWEIGHT FACTORY DRAG RACER for sale. Motorcar Classics is excited to present this incredibly rare 1963 Ford Galaxie Factory Lightweight Race Car featured in Corinthian White with Red interior. In 1963 Ford built 212 Lightweight Galaxie factory race cars. Features common to these cars include Fords 427/425 HP R-Code engine, Borg Warner 4-speed aluminum transmission, Dual Holley 4 barrel carburetors, Fiberglass front fenders and trunk lid, Heater, radio and arm rest delete, Special lightweight interior components, Bostrom lightweight bucket seats, Rubber floor mat, No seam sealer or sound deadener throughout body panels, Aluminum front and rear bumpers and brackets, 15 inch Kelsey Hayes wheels. This car was found in Georgia and has been the subject of discussion on many forums. The car was located in Georgia and restored by a respected expert. It has fewer than 500 miles since restoration. In period a similar car turned the quarter in 12.49 seconds at 116.27 MPH! The lightweight looked a lot like the street Galaxie 500, but the appearance deceives. Aside from some sheet metal and the 427 block, they had nothing in common. Even the frame was derived from the base 300 series and built with lightweight outer rails, all part of an effort that took hundreds of pounds out of the car. And while the 427 Galaxie 500 Sports Hardtop was the car used in Fords dominating NASCAR program, the lightweight was strictly for the dragstrip. This Galaxie was restored to authentic as-raced configuration including Police Interceptor low-fade 11x3-inch brakes with drilled backing plates, race-spec aluminum RC Industries bellhousing, heavy-duty suspension, and an aluminum-case toploader T-10 4-speed. The interior has no sound deadening or seam sealer, heater or radio; no roof supports, door pulls, dome light, reverse lights nor mirrors; no trunklid springs or even provision for a spare tire. Even the Galaxies padded sun visors were replaced with pieces of cardboard and instead of carpet, a half-thickness rubber mat. The car has an open exhaust system and makes an incredible sound.]]> Thu, 23 Nov 2017 22:11:03 UTC

1948 Lincoln Continental Stock # 1024, Mileage: 92000, VIN # 8H182027
Price: $34,900
Exterior Color: Yellow, Interior Color: Red
1948 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this truly classic 1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible featured in Yellow with Red leather interior.

The story of the original Lincoln Continental has become a legend of the Classic Era. In 1941 Edsel Ford commissioned his favored stylist, Bob Gregorie, to design a customized Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Coupe for him to drive during a winter vacation in Florida. Fords society friends were so impressed by the design, with its low, sleek lines devoid of chrome and a rear-mounted spare, that it was soon put into production. The result, dubbed the Continental as a reflection of its styling influences, would remain part of the Lincoln line until 1948, being adapted each season to match the companys standard models.

The car is equipped with a 125 HP, 292 cu. in. flathead V-12 engine, three-speed synchromesh manual transmission with overdrive, front and rear transverse leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. For the era, this represented premium specs in a hugely expensive luxury automobile. The 48 Cotinental is recognized by the CCCA (Classic Car Club of America) as a full-classic.

Arguably, the Continental was the first true personal luxury car, as it was a large two-door, five-passenger automobile that was sporty enough for the polo player but also elegant enough to park at the club. It was that dual-personality appeal and outright beautiful design that have made it a lasting legend and among the most popular of CCCA Classics.

Our car could be characterized as a #2-/3+ example. It does not have much in the way of history, but it runs and drives well. The restoration would seem to be older, but the car is still very presentable and it is still a car that you could show and drive with pride.

Exterior Color: Nero Carbonio, Interior Color: Rosso Corallo
2008 Maserati GranTurismo for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to offer this 2008 Maserati GranTurismo coupe. This car is presented in Nero with stunning Rosso Corallo full leather interior. The engine is a 4.2L V8 with only 15155 miles since new. This 2-owner Maserati is in good condition and drives well. No accidents or paintwork. Making its debut for 2008, the dashing Maserati GranTurismo injects a welcome dose of Italian exuberance into the exclusive luxury performance coupe segment. Maserati has been no stranger to long-legged luxury performance coupes throughout its storied past and the GranTurismo is the company's latest variation on this theme. The Ferrari-built eight-cylinder is wonderfully smooth and tractable, and its explosive high-rpm muscle enables the GranTurismo to run with just about any car on the road. Similarly, the GranTurismo strikes an agreeable balance between sports-car handling and long-distance cruising comfort -- just as a proper grand tourer should. The cabin is equally impressive. Hand-stitched leather is practically everywhere you touch, and there's an aesthetic flair here that's missing in its Teutonic competition. There's plenty of modern technology baked into this Maserati. Controls are where you'd expect them to be, and the driving position is first-rate. Note that the well-bolstered rear seat actually accommodates two adults without much difficulty. The GranTurismo is a four-passenger luxury performance coupe. Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, an electronically adjustable suspension, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with washers, leather upholstery, heated 10-way power front seats with driver memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, a Bose surround-sound audio system and a hard-drive-based navigation system, antilock brakes, traction control and stability control, as well as front-seat side airbags and head-protecting side-curtain airbags for front passengers. The GranTurismo is propelled by a 4.2-liter V8 that pumps out 405 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. Maserati estimates a 0-60 sprint of 5.1 seconds. The engine is designed and built by Ferrari, but its unique crankshaft and cylinder heads distinguish it as a Maserati mill. A six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles routes the V8's power to the rear wheels.]]> Thu, 23 Nov 2017 22:11:03 UTC

With 19,888 miles the car presents as-new in all respects. This 2005 model is the first year of the production model based on Mercedes 1999 Vision SLR concept car that itself was inspired both by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coup of 1955,which was a modified Mercedes-Benz W196S race car, and the design of closed-wheel Formula One cars, a field in which Mercedes had prior experience, providing engines for McLaren bodies. The car was presented as "Tomorrow Silver Arrow" in a clear reference to the Silver Arrows of the golden age of Mercedes in competition during the fifties. To bring the concept to production, Mercedes joined with their Formula One partner, McLaren, thus creating the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The cars were built in McLarens facility in Woking, UK. The SLR sports a hand-built 5,439 cc (331.9 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminium, SOHC, V8 engine and AMG SPEEDSHIFT R five-speed automatic transmission with three manual modes. The car uses carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) construction in an attempt to keep the weight low. Road and Track tested the car in their July 2005 Road Test and reached 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. The 0 to 100 mph sprint was achieved in 7.5 seconds and a quarter mile run was completed in 11.5 seconds at 126 mph. The car pulled 1.13G on the skidpad! The original MSRP was approximately $450,000 and the performance remains formidable today. The iconic Gullwing doors attract attention everywhere the car is parked. Our SLR is a future collectible and offers great value.

At the 1999 North American International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz presented their Vision SLR concept, inspired both by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coup of 1955, which was a modified Mercedes-Benz W196S race car, and the design of closed-wheel Formula One cars, a field in which Mercedes had prior experience, providing engines for McLaren bodies. The car was presented as "Tomorrows Silver Arrow" in a clear reference to the Silver Arrows of the golden age of Mercedes in competition during the fifties. Mercedes joined with their Formula One partner, McLaren, thus creating the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Reception of the concept car was enthusiastic, so it was slated for production. The first production model was presented on 17 November 2003. The SLR remained in production for six years.

A new version was introduced in 2006, called the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition. The "722" refers to the victory by Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722 (indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m.) at the Mille Miglia in 1955.

The "722 Edition" includes a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine producing 640 hp at 6,500 rpm and 600 lbft torque at 4,000 rpm. 19-inch light-alloy wheels are used to reduce unsprung weight, while modifications were also made to the suspension, with a stiffer damper setup and 10 mm lower ride height introduced for improved handling. Larger 390 mm diameter front brakes and a revised front air dam and rear diffuser are fitted. Exterior changes, other than the larger 19-inch black light-alloy wheels, include red "722" badging, recalling the original 722 racer, and slightly different tail lights and headlamps.
The SLR 722 can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, 120 mph in 10.2 seconds and 190 mph in 27.6 seconds. The car can reach a top speed of 209 mph which is faster than the standard Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

1939 MERCURY CONVERTIBLE CUSTOM STREET ROD for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this awesome 1939 Mercury Convertible Custom Street Rod featured in Red Jewel with Tan leather interior and matching Tan canvas convertible top. This car represents the culmination of a ten-year build that was meticulously done by a team of experienced craftsmen. The build is completely documented and the finished car is turnkey and ready for you to drive and show with pride.

The 1939 Mercury convertible on which the project is based was purchased from Thomas Ketchum in Altamont, New York in 1989 as a true Barn Find. The buyer, an experienced street rodder, then commissioned California Customs of Pensacola, Florida to design and build a custom Street Rod.

The car was delivered to Pensacola in the fall of 2000 for the start of the project. California customs took the car completely apart, and began the project by designing and fabricating and entirely new frame. The floors were removed and replaced with new steel; the top was chopped approximately 1 1/2 and the A-pillars were raked to accommodate the chop. The body was lengthened 4 , and' the hood was pancaked and stretched to match the fenders. New running boards were fabricated and installed. All fender and running board seams were welded and smoothed. Flares were added to all the fenders. The trunk was raised to make room for the rear license plate. Custom tail and headlights were fabricated. The firewall was recessed to accommodate the 5.3L Chevy fuel injected engine and 4L60 Transmission. New suspension was installed on the frame along with a Chevy S-10 Rear End and Parallel leaf springs. The frame was then painted and the body was reinstalled. The front doors had hidden hinges installed with new hinge pockets.

The interior design included a complete custom dash with a console using Dakota gauges, custom chrome trim, a hidden tach in the console compartment and a computer diagnostic plug in the console. The overall curve of the dash design continues into the doors. The car was then prepped and painted.

The owner collected the car in May of 2005 and returned to his NY home. After the return of the car, he wired it, installed components such as the windshield wipers, electric door openers, gauges, vintage AC and heat unit, hood and trunk releases. The car has a remote door switch located under the left front fender for an emergency. Also there is a power shut off switch under the right hand side of the car on the frame. The convertible top was installed in his shop by Mark Last of Lee Center, NY. American Racing Wheels were installed with 265/40ZR/18 tires on the rear and 225/45/ZR17 on the front.

In the fall of 2007, the car was transported to Portage Trim in southern Ohio for a complete custom interior. New Cadillac front seats were purchased and installed, a custom rear seat was designed and built. Custom door panels with chrome accents were added, carpeting and custom floor mats were installed and the trunk was designed to match the interior. The beige interior was designed to complement the exterior color of the car. Pin striping was added to the car featuring the Mercury Logo.

Since the completion of the project, the car has been shown at various shows around New York State and in 2012 it was nominated for the Gene Winfield Top 12 pick at the Syracuse National Meet. Every aspect of the almost ten-year build was photographically documented. We can provide interested parties with a link to a Dropbox folder with approximately 800 photos that start with the the disassembly of the donor car and end with beautiful photos of the completed car. The folder includes sub-folders by period, and if you take the time to examine these photos from beginning to end, you will be rewarded with an understanding and true appreciation of the scope of a project like this and the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into building a custom of this caliber. In addition to the photos, the car includes a binder with manuals for all of the quality components that went into the build, along with another file containing all the build receipts. The car could not be duplicated for the price we are asking and the new owner will have a street or show ready car with every amenity working properly that is a delight on the road.

1985 PORSCHE 911 CABRIOLET FACTORY M491 TURBO-LOOK for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this rare 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo-Look Cabriolet with the factory M491 option. Featured in Black with Black leather, it is estimated to be one of approximately 113 imported in 1985. In 1980, due to US emission regulations the 930 Turbo was pulled from the North American market and it didnt return until 1986. This left a huge hole for any driver in North America that wanted the aggressive looks and increased performance of the Turbo. The aftermarket tuners jumped on this and started turning the 3.2 Carreras into turbo-look cars. The quality of the body work ranged from frighteningly bad bondo jobs to conversions so good they were almost indistinguishable from factory produced 930s. But even with the good ones it was hard and very expensive to go deeper than wide fenders and spaced wheels and tires. The 930s had a very different suspension setup to take full advantage of the wide-body, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, etc. and to replicate this was a massive undertaking. But people did it to varying degrees of success.

Porsche woke up to the fact that they were losing money to the tuner market and in 1984 they began offering the M491 option on the 3.2 Carrera. It remained an option on the 3.2 from 84 to 89. The 87-89 models also have the G50 transmission just like the standard Carreras. Finally, direct from the Porsche factory, you could order your normally aspirated Carrera with just about everything the Turbo had, minus the actual turbo of course. This wasnt just a Carrera with stretched fenders. It included: The wide-body - turbo whale tail - turbo wrap-around chin spoiler - turbo suspension - turbo brakes with 285 mm cross-drilled discs and four-piston aluminum calipers - wheels and tires - All resulting in a slight weight increase but a noticeable handling improvement over the standard Carrera.

The M491 option didnt come cheap. This wasnt like deciding whether or not to splurge on the electric seats or the sport steering wheel. Prices for the M491 option ranged from $10K to $15K extra depending on the year. The high cost kept orders and production numbers low, making these genuine M491 equipped models very special, very rare and increasingly a good investment. The M491 Carreras were highly desirable as track cars given the Turbo handling paired up with the bulletproof 3.2 engine and they were somewhat overlooked until recently as collectables. Our car has covered 80k miles and remains largely original. It is in robust mechanical health and drives superbly. This is a wonderful opportunity for the enthusiast seeking a rare variation of a classic air-cooled Porsche to drive and enjoy.

Development started in 2003 and went from a minor upgrade to the incredible machine you see here. The car was essentially stripped to bare and started completely over. All panels in the car are hand beaten from master metalwork. Only front and rear bumpers are custom fiberglass composites. Here are some of the highlights of the car as most components are either brand new or completely restored: Completely internally upgraded 993 Carrera engine, Raceware Headstuds, Porsche Motorsport Press Reg, GT2 Evo Cams, Machine Groove in Camshaft, Rings: Flame Rings Valve Pocket Pistons, Heads: Glass Bead, Weld Fins & Machined, Cam Towers: Machine Fins, R&R Ex Guides, Grove, Carrilo Rods, MSD6A HP Street Race, Mototron Injectors, Custom Twin Turbo T04E461 STG 111/.63 Dry Dyn, Custom Borla XR1 Sportsman 2-1/2 In 2-1/2 out, Custom High Flow Twin Intercoolers tugged behind rear quarters, 964 RS Flywheel, 964 RS Clutch Disc, 964 Ring gears, new 993 6 speed transmission, 993 Turbo Hubs, H & R Coilovers,Valentine One with Laser, Concealer Display w Band 10 and Audio Adapter, Racelogic Traction Control System (993s never retained a traction control), Custom Roll Cage concealed behind headliner, a very professional grade build, Brembo Brakes, Custom gauges, Custom Sound System, Lo Jack System, Brand New 996 Sport seats. A Dyno sheet running 93 octane at low boost shows a very respectable 500HP at the wheels. Exterior Color: Sunflower Yellow, Interior Color: Tan

1974 Porsche 914 for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this 1974 Porsche 914 featured in Sunflower Yellow with Tan interior. The Porsche 914 Styling avoided most of the impracticalities of the typical mid-engined layout with good outward vision and two large trunks. Performance was modest at first with base VW-derived engines of 1.7 and 1.8 liters. But the 2.0 Liter cars, like our fine example, gave sparkling performance and are the most desirable of the four-cylinder models today. Handling is superb with fine brakes and phenomenal steering. Bright period colors, like this delightful Yellow, suit the car well. Our car is reported to have been purchased new by an Alaskan oil field worker, who kept the car at his Texas home. It then went to an owner in Pasadena, CA who owned the car for about five years and sold it to its most recent owner. The hood and trunk lids were re-painted, but the paint and interior are otherwise original. It has covered 55k miles in all and is in robust mechanical health. The original owners manual and tools are included. The car is clean, sound, and a thrill to drive.

1931 STUDEBAKER PRESIDENT FOUR SEASONS ROADSTER for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this magnificent 1931 Studebaker President Four Seasons Roadster featured in Light Grey with Dark Blue fenders, Light Grey interior, and Black convertible top.

One of the oldest names in the automobile industry, the Studebaker Company was formed in 1852 as a wagon manufacturer. By the late twenties, Studebaker was a successful manufacturer of mid-market cars that offered luxury, comfort and stylish designs at an affordable price. In 1928, Studebaker made a bid for the high-end car market with the introduction of the new President, featuring a new high-output eight-cylinder engine. According to Studebaker, the new President found a parallel in sustained speed only in the light of comets, meteors, and other heavenly bodies.

Marketing aside, it was this engine that earned Studebaker a strong reputation in the performance world. In 1928, three Presidents circled the Atlantic City board track for 25,000 miles, averaging 68-mph. Later, in 1931, the engine was upgraded to nine main bearing design, and a modified President won the Pikes Peak hillclimb. Studebakers were also quite successful at the Indy 500, regularly finishing in the top 10. Despite what many consider a series of management misadventures, Studebaker was still a force in the market in 1931. Struggling with the acquisition of Pierce-Arrow and burdened with a diverse product line, the company rallied around the new President model to establish an image of spirited performance. With the introduction of the nine main bearing version of the President engine for 1931, Studebaker stepped up its efforts to show off the cars abilities. The results speak for themselves: Studebaker held 114 records, 35 of which would still stand 35 years later. No other car of its era was as successful in motor sport competition.

Studebaker executives managed to combine their successes on the track with their customer cars and perhaps there is no better representation of this than in the 1931 Four Seasons Roadster offered here which was once part of the esteemed White Glove Collection. Since 2007 the car cosmetically has received a new black cloth top and gray leather interior installed by LaVine Restoration in Nappanee, Indiana. The Levines have also fabricated and installed a new radiator and detailed the engine bay. Although an older restoration, this car still retains great paint and chrome throughout and is mechanically a good running car. The Studebaker displays evidence of its show credentials with a Classic Car Club of America Senior Winner badge on the coachwork. Given its current condition and remarkable adherence to original specifications, it is expected that it will continue to do very well within AACA, CCCA or Studebaker Club events.

The Four Seasons Roadster is equipped with many accessories, including the rare and desirable Studebaker Flying Lady mascot, Trippe headlights, radiator stone guard, dual side-mounted spares with pedestal mirrors, rumbleseat, running board step plates and a luggage rack.

The 80-R Four Seasons Roadster represents one of the most useable two-passenger classics in existence. The roll-up windows offer fully enclosed dry motoring when needed, and disappear easily at the sight of top-down driving weather. With only 54 1931 Studebaker President Four Seasons Roadsters registered in the Classic Car Club of America and Studebaker Club, it makes them an extremely desirable tour and show car as more often than not it is the only one of its kind at the event
