Price: $99,900
Exterior Color: St. James Red, Interior Color: Tan
1987 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this exquisite 1987 Bentley Continental Convertible featured in very rare St. James Red with Tan leather interior and matching Tan convertible top and boot cover. The body is highlighted by fine tan pinstriping. The Tan convertible top and Tan boot are as-new.

The Bentley Continental Convertible is very rare compared to the corresponding Rolls Corniche Convertible, and it is considered more desirable because of its understated front end styling and Bentleys sporting heritage. Between 1985 and 1989 a total of only 195 Continental Convertibles were sold worldwide, of which a small percentage came to the United States. Historic data and value guides show that the Continental brings a substantial premium over its Rolls Corniche cousin.

Our car has been cherished and dealer-maintained since new, and has covered only 19,604 miles. Our car also has the desirable Cocktail Set option built into both front doors, and all the pieces of the set are still present. For 1988 the Bentley Continental received the same upgrades that led Rolls-Royce to change the designation of their car to Corniche II. Upgrades include rack and pinion steering, alloy wheels, and bi-level air-conditioning. The car is powered by Rolls renowned 6.75 Liter V-8 with Bosch fuel injection and features a four speed automatic transmission.

With their Mulliner Park Ward coachwork, and bespoke quality, the best examples of these fine convertibles will be treasured by collectors for decades to come. This may be the best example of a very rare car in arguably the best color combination. Your inspection is invited.

Price: Call for Price
Exterior Color: White, Interior Color: Blue
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for sale. Motorcar Classics is now selling this well-known, awesome Big Tank 1966 Corvette 427/425 coupe. This car was a long-time part of the don Davis Collection and was last sold at auction to the current owner, our client, for $220,000. This car features the 425 bhp, 427 cu. in. L72 V-8 engine with Holley four-barrel carburetor, four-speed Muncie close-ratio manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, and J56 heavy-duty, four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 98 in. It is the ultimate 1966 Corvette: 427/425 V-8, four-speed, Big Tank, heavy-duty brakes, side exhaust, and radio/heater delete. All numbers match. It has won NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, and Vettefest Gold Spinner Award winner, the Triple Crown

The first owner of this 1966 Corvette obviously sought speed. From the laundry list of Regular Production Options, they selected first the L72, the 427-cubic inch big block V-8 with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. When it debuted for 1966, this engine was rated at 450 horsepower. Shortly thereafter, Chevrolet downgraded the engine to 425 horsepower, which worked to calm insurance industry figures who had worked themselves into a lather over the 450 rating. Other selections for this car included such options as J56, heavy-duty racing-style brakes; N14, a side-mounted exhaust; and N03, a 36-gallon fuel tank. The latter was fittingly installed on only 66 Corvettes in 1966, and it was clearly intended for racing, when having additional fuel capacity was an advantage. It is among the desired options on a big block Corvette today, and owning a Big Tank car adds instant prestige to any Corvette enthusiast. Further indicating the performance intentions of its first owner, this car was ordered with radio and heater delete.

Everything you want on a hot Corvette is here. The engine pad number is matching the chassis number, which appears to identify this clearly as being a matching-numbers car. It has been restored to the best of standards, with paint, interior, and carpeting that are, as is typical of restored St. Louis-built Corvettes, actually better than what these cars had when they left the factory. Yet, the restored car is authentic enough to please the judges, earning its NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, and Vettefest Gold Spinner honors, known as the famed Corvette Triple Crown.

The body is in excellent condition, with outstanding panel fit on both sides. The interior is correct and presents beautifully, with correct carpeting and virtually no wear. Underneath and under the hood, all correct fittings and finishes are present and appear fresh out of the restoration shop, never to have been driven on the road. This is truly an investment-grade Corvette.

The bodies were crafted with a complex series of interlocking miter joints with woodworking skills and a finish that would be the envy of the finest yachts. The Town and Country is recognized by the CCCA as a Full Classic, making the model a member of an exclusive and select list of post-war vehicles that are eligible for prestigious CCCA CARavans and events. This car will be welcome on any concours field.
According to the town and country Registry, 2,936 cars were produced in 1948. 196 are known to survive. Our car is featured in Catalina Tan paint Red trim, and Taupe Bedford Cord interior with a matching Taupe convertible top. The car was meticulously restored in colors matching the original trim tag. It is powered by the Chrysler Spitfire 323CI inline 8-cylinder L-head motor with the Fluid-Drive hydraulically operated transmission. It has recorder 58,961 miles. The history file includes receipts for a complete mechanical overhaul in 2010. Everything sparkles on this car and the view from behind the wheel is particularly impressive with its long hood and deco-inspired dashboard. But to the experienced eye, the truly outstanding appeal of this example is the quality and finish of the wood and intricate joints. We have not seen its equal.
This beautiful Town and Country was last shown in 2011 at the Greystone Mansion Concours in Los Angeles, and it was last sold at Gooding's prestigious 2011 Pebble Beach event. It is ready to be the center of attention at any major concours. For a serious collector of Full classics, a town and Country is a must. We respectfully submit that this is one of the best.

1948 Chysler Windsor Stock # 1074, Mileage: 22796, VIN # 70641979
Price: $59,900
Exterior Color: Stone Beige, Interior Color: Plaid
1948 CHRYSLER WINDSOR HIGHLANDER CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this incredibly preserved 1948 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible which comes with a fascinating history. Our unrestored 1948 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible was purchased in 1948 from Northwest Motors in Helena, Montana as a high school graduation gift for Bob Starz by his father. In 1950 Mr. Starz caught his son drinking and driving, so he took the car away from his son and placed it in a stone garage. Mr. Starz made sure that Bob could not get the car out of the garage by cementing an iron railing around the car. Thus, with only 16,300 miles on it, the Chrysler was interred this way more than 30 years, until after Mr. Starz senior passed away. An old high school friend asked Bob about purchasing the car, but the car held a lot of bad memories, and Bob told his friend that he was going to take the to the city dump and burn it! Fortunately, Bob was talked out of that idea, and after 6 more years, the friend convinced Bob to sell him the car. When it was finally released from its long confinement the car still had only 16,300 miles. Subsequently the car was sold again in 1999, at which time it had 20,600 miles. In the year 2002 this car won the Presidents Cup at the Walter P. Chrysler National Meet. The car remains unrestored. The convertible top is factory original. The power top mechanism works properly, but it is rarely put it down because of the material is 68 years old. Almost everything else is 100% original as it came out of the Chrysler factory in 1948; original paint, original plaid upholstery. The car currently shows 22,796 miles. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed because, while the car was in storage, people would put their feet on them. Both front and rear gravel pans have been painted because of scratches. The passenger door is a little off-color because, when the car was delivered to the dealership, the door was scratched during the unloading process and repainted at the dealership.

The Windsor is powered by Chryslers Spitfire 251 CI L-Head inline six cylinder engine and this car has the Fluid-Drive hydraulically operated transmission. Everything works properly and the car likely drives as well now as when Bob Starz was caught by his father! It was comprehensively serviced in 2013 and would be an ideal candidate for preservation class showing. Pre-war designs that survived WW II like the 1948 Windsor Highlander Convertible feature an impressive mix of classic styling and the improved reliability and driving manners found in post-war cars. They remain strong in the market, and are considered to be a blue-chip post-war collectible. The convertibles lovely Highlander plaid interior is a bold feature of the luxurious cabin, and the fantastic dash features a vintage Motorola radio between the factory gauges and an era-correct clock. The emblems, stainless trim, and carpets are set off by a chrome-trimmed, 3-spoke steering wheel with old school Lucite shift and stalk knobs. Top up or down, this car is ready to tour or show.

1972 DATSUN 240Z PACE CAR for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this 1972 Datsun 240Z Pace Car. In 1972 Datsun specially prepared two 1972 240Z cars to be used as the Official Pace Car(s) for the Third Annual "California 500" held on Sept. 3, 1972. It was standard practice to build two " Official Pace Cars " for an event. One would be used for promotional purposes. It would be driven around town, used for photo sessions and then presented to the winner of the race. A second car would be prepared to actually "Pace" the race. This second car usually would have it's suspension and power-train modified for higher performance, to assure that it could perform the on-track functions of a Pace Car. (that is to keep ahead of the pack of cars it was pacing ). Having thus been modified, it could no longer be Smog Certified for use on the highways. Thus the need of having one for "Show" and one for "GO". Fifty 240Z Official Pace Cars were built and delivered to Southern California Datsun Dealers Official Pace Cars during the ceremonies officially opening the " California 500 " at Ontario Motor Speedway. The foregoing information is credited to the enthusiasts and historians at the web site, who have researched the history of these Pace Cars and who say that only one of the 50 duplicate O.M.S. Pace Cars has been found, and the sole survivor is the car we have to offer you.

This 1972 Official OMS Pace Car Duplicate is at present the only known survivor. One of Fifty originally produced by Nissan Motors to commemorate the DATSUN 240Z being selected by the Ontario Motor Speedway to Pace the 1972 "U.S.A.C. California 500 Championship". This car was originally purchased from Gillian Datsun in Inglewood, CA. It was driven until the early 80's with its original O.M.S. livery. The original owner tired of the graphics and painted it with a Jaguar Burgundy then drove it until the mid 80's when it was stored away. The car was pulled out of storage and sold to a friend of the owner in 2007, who began its restoration. Photos show layers of paint being peeled away revealing the original O.M.S. Blue and White colors from 1972. The car in our showroom is this car complete with the 500RACE California license plates and frames. The car is nearly complete with the exception of a few bits of trim, and we would characterize it as being in #3 condition. It is rust-free and mechanically sound. Serious offers are invited. As reference materials, we can offer two links to the documentation. Below each link is the full URL which can be copied and pasted into your browser as not all of our advertising venues support live links.

The 328 is a very considerable improvement over its predecessor the 308 and has developed a honest reputation for a very entertaining Ferrari to own with very low upkeep costs as compared to any other Modena product from this vintage. This is a extremely rare example of the legendary model which has gained tremendous popularity with the Ferrari community as of late and their values have picked up significant momentum. In addition to all the above what sets this particular car apart from any other 328 is that the forward cowl of the car and the owners manual were autographed by Phil Hill. Mr. Hill is the only American born driver to win a Formula 1 Championship (1961) and additionally he has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times (1958, 1961 and 1962). 1963 FORD GALAXIE 427 LIGHTWEIGHT FACTORY DRAG RACER for sale. Motorcar Classics is excited to present this incredibly rare 1963 Ford Galaxie Factory Lightweight Race Car featured in Corinthian White with Red interior. In 1963 Ford built 212 Lightweight Galaxie factory race cars. Features common to these cars include Fords 427/425 HP R-Code engine, Borg Warner 4-speed aluminum transmission, Dual Holley 4 barrel carburetors, Fiberglass front fenders and trunk lid, Heater, radio and arm rest delete, Special lightweight interior components, Bostrom lightweight bucket seats, Rubber floor mat, No seam sealer or sound deadener throughout body panels, Aluminum front and rear bumpers and brackets, 15 inch Kelsey Hayes wheels. This car was found in Georgia and has been the subject of discussion on many forums. The car was located in Georgia and restored by a respected expert. It has fewer than 500 miles since restoration. In period a similar car turned the quarter in 12.49 seconds at 116.27 MPH! The lightweight looked a lot like the street Galaxie 500, but the appearance deceives. Aside from some sheet metal and the 427 block, they had nothing in common. Even the frame was derived from the base 300 series and built with lightweight outer rails, all part of an effort that took hundreds of pounds out of the car. And while the 427 Galaxie 500 Sports Hardtop was the car used in Fords dominating NASCAR program, the lightweight was strictly for the dragstrip. This Galaxie was restored to authentic as-raced configuration including Police Interceptor low-fade 11x3-inch brakes with drilled backing plates, race-spec aluminum RC Industries bellhousing, heavy-duty suspension, and an aluminum-case toploader T-10 4-speed. The interior has no sound deadening or seam sealer, heater or radio; no roof supports, door pulls, dome light, reverse lights nor mirrors; no trunklid springs or even provision for a spare tire. Even the Galaxies padded sun visors were replaced with pieces of cardboard and instead of carpet, a half-thickness rubber mat. The car has an open exhaust system and makes an incredible sound.]]> Wed, 24 May 2017 04:42:51 CDT

In the year 2000, a Disney remake of the classic film, Gone in 60 Seconds, with Nicolas Cage who played the car thief extraordinaire, Randall Memphis Raines. While both movies share a similar plot of thieves who steal a large order of cars, the star car of the remake was changed to feature a metallic Grey 1967 Ford Mustang fastback-Shelby GT500. The customized kit was designed by Steve Stanford and was an instant classic that had car collectors wanting to own a new Eleanor. There were 12 vehicles made but nine of them were just shells used for different shots while the remaining three were fully functional upgraded Shelbys.
While Eleanor is a moniker many use for customized Mustang Fastbacks, this extraordinary car is an authentic reproduction of the film car with looks and performance to match. The sound and driving experience are incredible!

1955 Ford Thunderbird Stock # 1014, Mileage: 74904, VIN # P5FH250485
Price: $29,900
Exterior Color: Black, Interior Color: Red/White
1955 FORD THUNDERBIRD for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this 1955 Ford Thunderbird featured in Black with Red & White vinyl interior. This car has both the hardtop and convertible soft top, and it is equipped with the 3-speed manual transmission. Options include 4-way power seats, AM radio and spoked wheel covers.

Fords original two-seat Thunderbird, inspired by Chevrolets Corvette, went into production on September 9, 1954. Like Chevrolets fiberglass sports car, the steel-bodied 1955 T-bird rides on a 102-inch wheelbase, but the similarities ended there. Save for some early applications, a removable fiberglass hardtop was standard, as featured on our fine Black example. Also standard were roll-up windows and V-8 power, all features unavailable to early Corvette customers. The Thunderbird V-8 is a 292 cubic-inch Y-block topped by a single four-barrel carburetor. Output is 193 horsepower as rated with the standard 3-speed manual gearbox.
Our car presents itself in very good condition all around. We would characterize it as a driver rather than a show car, but it will be a source of pride to its next owner and has no needs. It runs and drives well and looks great going down the road.

1948 Lincoln Continental Stock # 1024, Mileage: 92000, VIN # 8H182027
Price: $44,900
Exterior Color: Yellow, Interior Color: Red
1948 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this truly classic 1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible featured in Yellow with Red leather interior.

The story of the original Lincoln Continental has become a legend of the Classic Era. In 1941 Edsel Ford commissioned his favored stylist, Bob Gregorie, to design a customized Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Coupe for him to drive during a winter vacation in Florida. Fords society friends were so impressed by the design, with its low, sleek lines devoid of chrome and a rear-mounted spare, that it was soon put into production. The result, dubbed the Continental as a reflection of its styling influences, would remain part of the Lincoln line until 1948, being adapted each season to match the companys standard models.

The car is equipped with a 125 HP, 292 cu. in. flathead V-12 engine, three-speed synchromesh manual transmission with overdrive, front and rear transverse leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. For the era, this represented premium specs in a hugely expensive luxury automobile. The 48 Cotinental is recognized by the CCCA (Classic Car Club of America) as a full-classic.

Arguably, the Continental was the first true personal luxury car, as it was a large two-door, five-passenger automobile that was sporty enough for the polo player but also elegant enough to park at the club. It was that dual-personality appeal and outright beautiful design that have made it a lasting legend and among the most popular of CCCA Classics.

Our car could be characterized as a #2-/3+ example. It does not have much in the way of history, but it runs and drives well. The restoration would seem to be older, but the car is still very presentable and it is still a car that you could show and drive with pride.

Price: $749,900
Exterior Color: Crystal Antimony Gray, Interior Color: Black
2007 MERCEDES-BENZ MCLAREN SLR 722 EDITION for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this stunning 2007 Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 Edition featured in Crystal Antimony Grey with Black interior. This 1-owner car that has covered just 1,300 miles. It is pristine and as-new in all respects.

At the 1999 North American International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz presented their Vision SLR concept, inspired both by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coup of 1955, which was a modified Mercedes-Benz W196S race car, and the design of closed-wheel Formula One cars, a field in which Mercedes had prior experience, providing engines for McLaren bodies. The car was presented as "Tomorrows Silver Arrow" in a clear reference to the Silver Arrows of the golden age of Mercedes in competition during the fifties. Mercedes joined with their Formula One partner, McLaren, thus creating the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Reception of the concept car was enthusiastic, so it was slated for production. The first production model was presented on 17 November 2003. The SLR remained in production for six years.

A new version was introduced in 2006, called the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition. The "722" refers to the victory by Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722 (indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m.) at the Mille Miglia in 1955.

The "722 Edition" includes a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine producing 640 hp at 6,500 rpm and 600 lbft torque at 4,000 rpm. 19-inch light-alloy wheels are used to reduce unsprung weight, while modifications were also made to the suspension, with a stiffer damper setup and 10 mm lower ride height introduced for improved handling. Larger 390 mm diameter front brakes and a revised front air dam and rear diffuser are fitted. Exterior changes, other than the larger 19-inch black light-alloy wheels, include red "722" badging, recalling the original 722 racer, and slightly different tail lights and headlamps.
The SLR 722 can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, 120 mph in 10.2 seconds and 190 mph in 27.6 seconds. The car can reach a top speed of 209 mph which is faster than the standard Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

We have seen many MGBs over the years, and can honestly report that we have not seen the equal of this car. The car is featured in Carmine Red with Black interior with Black leather seats piped in Red. It has a Black convertible top and tonneau and sparkling chrome knock-off wire wheels. The car is reported to have been restored about two years ago and it comes with a photo album showing the details and extent of the restoration. It also has the jack, hammer, spare tire and glovebox key. For MGB enthusiasts, the most sought after car is the 1967, the last of the pure MGBs. Its the last year of the steel dash; still has shiny bumpers and a handsome grill; and Federal regulations had not yet degraded performance. Under the hood, the 1967 engine is a very reliable five-main-bearing design that produces nearly 100 HP. The transmission is a 4-speed, but with synchro only on the top three gears. Inside, the seats are upholstered in leather, with lovely contrasting piping, and the dashboard is adorned with black crackle-finish paint and toggle switches, evoking memories of fighter planes and the Battle of Britain. MGBs are among the best driving and user-friendly cars of the classic British sportscar period. We recommend this car because it is the best example of the best MGB, and yet affordable to most enthusiasts. As the values of MGBs continue to appreciate, a car like this will always be at the pinnacle of desirability.
