1963 Reliant Sabre for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this very rare 1963 Sabre Sport Roadster featured in dark grey metallic with red interior and black convertible top. The Sabre was a product of Autocars of Haifa, Israel, who partnered with Reliant, a UK automobile manufacturer to assemble cars in Israel. Autocars was Israels first car manufacturer and produced cars from 1957 through 1980. Most were assembled locally from components of other manufacturers. The Sport was intended to be a halo model for the brand and was was presented to the US market at the New York Auto Show in 1963. Of about 208 Sport models made it is estimated that about 50 came to the US. The Sport features a fiberglass body and was sold either as a Roadster or coupe, with a hardtop in place. It is powered by a 1703 cc four cylinder engine with two SU carbs and a four speed gearbox. The mechanical components were sourced from Ford of Britain so the car is easily serviceable. Our particular Sabra was imported from Germany and may be one of the finest surviving examples. The name Sabre is the Hebrew word for a native-born Israeli and these cars rarely come to market. Performance is comparable to similar British sports cars of the period. The car Will attract a great deal of attention on any show field.
