This delightful and rare variant of the Boxster was born of Porsche revisiting its own history, recalling when American importer Max Hoffman suggested a stripped-down, lightweight version of the 356 called the Speedster. For this modern version, the new Spyder drops 176 lb., compared with the standard Boxster S, while gaining 10 horsepower (now 320 versus 310) from its 3.4-liter flat-6, along with a number of suspension upgrades. The Speedster-style top provides protection from the sun and elements when necessary, and sleek lines very reminiscent of the Carrera GT when stowed.
