1983 FERRARI 512BBi for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this exceptional 1983 Ferrari 512BBi featured in Rosso Corsa Red with Tan leather interior with contrasting Red seat inserts. The Berlinetta Boxer took the place of the Daytona in Ferraris model range and was the first in a series of Ferraris to use a mid-mounted flat-12 engine. The flat-12 featured two opposed banks each with six cylinders that led to the Boxer moniker. Like some of Ferraris most iconic cars, the Boxer was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti and it was the first mid-engined road-car to bear the Ferrari name and the Cavallino Rampante (prancing horse) logo. The BB was introduced as the 365BB, then, with a larger motor, as the 512BB, both of which were carbureted. The last of the series carried fuel injection, hence the 512BBi designation. The BB series were never officially sold by Ferrari in the US, but there was great demand and private importers stepped up to meet the demand. The Boxer was later replaced by the Testarossa with a similar configuration but radically different styling. Our car is one of 1,007 512BBi and it is in pristine condition with immaculate paint and brand new interior. Look closely at the leather, the dashboard, the fit and finish, this is one of the finest Boxers I have seen. And the combination of the Tan leather, Red inserts, and Red carpets is arguably the best interior combination. With 360HP driving through Ferraris traditional gated 5-speed gearbox, 0-60 comes up in just about 5.4 seconds which was true supercar performance for its day. Our car has covered 27,684 km (17,202 miles). Boxers are delightful and exciting to drive. This one is a great example.
