1978 Pontiac Trans AM Y88/WS6 for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this rare and stunning 1978 Firebird Trans Am featured in Solar Gold with tan velour cloth interior. Created as a spring promo model, the first Y88s or Gold Bird TAs were produced in January of 1978. The Y88 was the UPC code for the Special Edition option using Solar Gold metallic paint with brown pinstripes on all the same areas as the Black SE cars, plus some new features. Our car is a stunning example of the rare 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Y88 Special Edition with optional T-Tops. This car is loaded with options including factory AC, WS6 6.6L (400CI) V8 with special performance package, 4-speed automatic transmission, power door locks, power windows, cruise control, tilt wheel, 15 x 8 SnowFlake wheels, power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes, and more. The car has covered only 200 miles or so since it received a restoration and upgrades that are documented with well over $40K in recent receipts. All specs are included documenting the motor and transmission, along with upgraded Alpine sound system and a Dakota digital gauge cluster. Without doubt, this is the best Trans Am we have seen in recent years and it will be a star performer on the road or show field.
