1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this supremely original 1973 365GTB/4 Daytona coupe featured in Rosso Rubino with Saddle Tan leather interior. Delivered new in August 1974 by Algar Ferrari, this is a US car equipped with factory AC. The car has spent its entire life in New England. The first owner covered 10,000 miles in 5 years and sold the car to the second owner in 1979. The second owner cherished the car for 25 years and added just about 4,000 miles to the odometer. The third owner closely related to the second and has cared for the car for almost 15 years adding 17,000 more miles to the odometer and bringing up to the current 33,469 miles. So it could be said that the car has been in the care of the same family for 40 years and the history of these two enthusiasts has been documented by Mike Coviello in his article Boyhood Dreams that was published in the June, 2007, issue of Forza Magazine. (A copy of which is included in our extensive history file). The car still wears its original paint and leather interior.

The car has been extensively shown by the current owner, and in September 2018 it won the Primio di Platino award in the Preservation Class at the FCA National Meet in Watkins Glen. Prior awards include Best in Class at the 2017 Lime Rock Historic Festival, the Werner Pfister Award for oldest high mileage unrestored Ferrari at the 2015 FCA New England Region Concorso, and Best Unrestored Ferrari at the 2013 FCA Penn-Jersey Region concours as well as other awards detailed in the history file.

Major mechanical repairs include a clutch and complete engine rebuild at around 18k miles all done by respected John Tirrell at IFS, Independent Ferrari Service, of Easton, MA.  The car was extensively maintained by IFS as evidenced by detailed receipts in the history file. New Michelin XWX tires were fitted in 2016.

The car has been driven regularly by its current owner and it is in excellent mechanical health. The car accelerates, shifts, brakes and handles as you would expect from Ferraris iconic 365 GTB/4. The sound of the Daytona motor is among the most thrilling of any production car, and the car is rock solid at any speed. Daytonas were known to cruise at speeds near 175 MPH and this car can do so with alacrity. The paint and interior show a patina that is earned from 45 years of faithful service to its owners and it remains a superb Presentation Class example as evidenced by its 2018 FCA National award.
